Bush Names Linton Brooks Acting NNSA Administrator

President Bush yesterday designated Linton Brooks as the acting administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration, according to NNSA officials. Up until yesterday, Brooks was the deputy administrator for defense nuclear nonproliferation at NNSA, a semi-autonomous Energy Department agency that oversees the nation's nuclear weapons complex. Brooks temporarily replaces former NNSA Administrator John Gordon, who left that post this week for a job at the National Security Council, where he will help coordinate federal counterterrorism programs.
