Carter: DOD Evaluating New Approaches to Program Oversight

The Defense Department plans to improve its oversight of major acquisition programs by focusing more on the middle to later stages of programs, the Pentagon's top weapons buyer said today. The Pentagon's acquisition directorate is "doing a couple of things that we think are going to be constructive" to address issues that arise during those specific phases of programs, DOD procurement chief Ashton Carter said at a NATO international cooperation conference in Washington.
