CBO: Savings From Air Force's 737 Lease Plans Would Be Negligible

The Congressional Budget Office has determined the Air Force might not save as much money as it projects by leasing Boeing 737 aircraft to transport government officials on business instead of buying them outright. In a July 23 response to a request from House Armed Services military procurement subcommittee Chairman Curt Weldon (R-PA), CBO found that small adjustments to certain key assumptions "could reduce the savings associated with leasing the aircraft or favor the purchase alternative rather than the lease."...
