Crusader Worries Cause United Defense Shares To Slump

United Defense Industries shares fell more than 11 percent in morning trading today in the wake of more news that the Pentagon plans to cancel the company's Crusader mobile gun system. In late-morning trading today on the New York Stock Exchange, traders had pushed UDI shares down $2.58 at $20.28 per share because of an article in today's New York Times that asserted that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had decided to kill Crusader.
