Defense Department Will Spend $27 Million to Correct Housing Allowance Inequity

The Defense Department announced today its plans to spend $27 million this fiscal year to correct an imbalance in base housing allowance payments. The imbalance creates a situation where two service members of equal rank could pay different out-of-pocket amounts to live off-base in the same geographic region, Pentagon spokesman Ken Bacon said.
