DHS Awards $250 Million Contract to Battelle to Run Biodefense Center

Battelle has received a $250 million contract from the Department of Homeland Security to manage the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center at Ft. Detrick, MD, the company announced this week. "Our threat picture is ever-changing, and this state-of-the-art center will provide an enduring biodefense capability against the biological threats we face," DHS Under Secretary for Science and Technology Jay Cohen said in a Dec. 20 statement.
