DOD: 2005 BRAC Savings Likely to be 'Substantial'

The military's Base Closure and Realignment effort in 2005 could save up to $5 billion in 2011 and another $8 billion each year thereafter, according to a report released by the Pentagon today. The report estimates that 24 percent of the Defense Department's infrastructure is unnecessary.
