DOD Announces Nominee For U.S. Forces Korea Command

The Pentagon announced today that Lt. Gen. Leon LaPorte, deputy commanding general and chief of staff of Army Forces Command, has been nominated for a third star and the position of commander-in-chief of U.S. forces in Korea. If he is confirmed by the Senate, LaPorte will also serve as commander-in-chief of United Nations Command and Combined Forces Command. He would replace Gen.
