DOD Biometrics Picks Up 'Special Interest' Label in Bid to Raise Profile

Pentagon acquisition executive John Young earlier this week gave the Defense Department's biometrics-related efforts a high-profile status normally reserved for the military's most expensive weapon programs, according to documents and sources. In a Sept. 2 acquisition decision memorandum, Young collectively designated all DOD biometrics efforts as an acquisition category I program with an additional "special interest" label.
