DOD Comptroller Tells Congress Financial Management Fixes Are On Target

The Defense Department is entering into the final stage of a three-phase approach to tackling the financial management problem that has vexed nearly every defense secretary, Pentagon Comptroller Bill Lynn told House lawmakers today. Lynn said he had recently signed a memorandum that creates a "Y2K-like" panel to oversee the improvements to and replacement of DOD's financial and feeder systems, the third and final step of the plan.
