DOD Continues Testing Of Unmanned Humvees Against Roadside Bombs

Defense officials last week announced a $14 million contract to continue field-testing a technology that can turn ordinary humvees into unmanned vehicles for bomb clearing on Afghan roads. The $14 million deal awarded to General Dynamics Robotic Systems of Westminster, MD, covers the development of a remotely operated ground vehicle that would neutralize buried improvised explosive devices with a mine roller, according to the March 22 announcement.
