DOD Names New SOUTHCOM Chief

Army Lt. Gen. James Hill has been nominated to receive his fourth star and become the next commander-in-chief of U.S. Southern Command, the Pentagon announced today. The SOUTHCOM post has been open for more than six months. Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace served as head of the command until last fall, when he was appointed vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
