DOD Panel Warns of Dangers from Foreign-Influenced Software

Pentagon officials should make the screening of foreign-made software for malicious code part of the defense acquisition process, the Defense Science Board says in a report unveiled this week. According to the document, the Defense Department's heavy reliance on software -- much of which is developed outside the United States -- makes the military vulnerable to what is known as "malware" in computer jargon.
