DOD Pegs Combined JSF Aircraft, Engine Price Tag At $391 Billion

The Defense Department estimates the Joint Strike Fighter program's total acquisition cost at $391 billion -- a drop of $4.5 billion from last year's projection, according to a new report. In its latest Selected Acquisition Report , which traces program costs through the end of 2012, DOD provides F-35 cost estimates for the program's aircraft and engine separately.
