DOD Tells Congress Four Programs With Major Cost Issues Must Continue (Updated)

Pentagon officials told lawmakers this week that four major acquisition programs are essential to national security and must continue despite major cost increases, InsideDefense.com has learned. A fifth program is undergoing review by the Air Force and may also be similarly "certified" if the Office of the Secretary of Defense deems the program is worth continuing.
