DOT&E: Testing On Freedom-Class LCS Uncovered Cyber Vulnerabilities

Recent testing aboard Lockheed Martin's Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ship variant has revealed significant vulnerabilities in the ship's cybersecurity, the Pentagon's top weapons tester wrote in his latest annual report. Director of Operational Test and Evaluation J. Michael Gilmore urged the Navy to address these vulnerabilities in the Freedom-class ship, and to conduct in-depth cybersecurity testing of Austal's Independence-class vessel as soon as possible, according to the report , which was released publicly Jan. 20.
