F/A-22 Facing New, $690 Million Cost Overrun

The Air Force announced late today the F/A-22 development program is heading toward a $690 million cost overrun, adding to the rising cost of the aircraft that is now priced at $189 million per copy. Engineering and manufacturing development for the Lockheed Martin-built aircraft was previously expected to cost about $20 billion, a service spokeswoman said Nov. 7.
