In FY-14 War Budget, DOD Seeks $6.4 Billion For Weapons Purchases

The Pentagon is seeking $6.4 billion in additional weapons procurement spending in fiscal year 2014 as part of a $79.4 billion overseas contingency operations spending request the Obama administration sent to lawmakers on Friday. The FY-14 budget amendment would offset a portion of the additional spending by canceling $1.3 billion in funds previously appropriated for weapons modernization projects, including $727 million from the C-27J Joint Cargo Aircraft program and $486 million Congress appropriated in fiscal year 2013 for Navy ship...
