GAO: Military Transformation Lacks 'Clear Leadership'

Despite steps to develop new capabilities to deal with existing and emerging threats, the Defense Department's effort to transform the military for the 21st century lacks "clear leadership" and accountability, according to a Government Accountability Office report released today. The defense secretary could help address the situation by establishing a formal group that would integrate DOD transformation projects, the GAO report states.
