GAO: Protracted Security Clearance Process Needs Improvements

The office responsible for enhancing and streamlining the federal government's security clearance system must take further action to improve what a new Government Accountability Office report concludes is an inefficient process. The Office of Management and Budget is responsible for improving the manner in which government security clearances are granted.
