GD Exec: CR Could Jeopardize Virginia-Class Cost Reduction, Erode Support

A continuing resolution that lasts through the summer could negate the Navy's work to reduce costs on Virginia-class submarines, bring about cost growth that could lead to "additional scrutiny" from Congress and put the entire program's future into question, according to John Casey, president of General Dynamics Electric Boat, one of the two builders of attack subs. The Navy had successfully reduced the cost of a Virginia-class sub by $400 million to $2 billion per sub in fiscal year 2005...
