General Dynamics Lobbies Congress To Upend Army's AMPV Program

General Dynamics Land Systems has been lobbying Congress this week to intervene in the Army's Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle program, asking that lawmakers refuse to fund the AMPV effort until the service puts forth an acquisition plan GDLS feels is more competitive, according to congressional sources and documents. The AMPV is intended to replace nearly 3,000 Vietnam-era M113 infantry carriers with non-developmental vehicles already in service, at a cost that could exceed $5 billion.
