Retired Rear Adm. Thomas Marfiak is stepping down Friday as CEO and publisher of the U.S. Naval Institute, a private nonprofit focused on sea power and national security. Marfiak gave notice late last week after meeting with Vice Adm. Albert Konetzni, who heads the board of directors, said an institute spokeswoman. No successor has been selected, she said.
