HMS Radio Cleared For Low-Rate Production

The Pentagon's premier program for handheld and manpack radio variants was approved for low-rate initial production June 17 -- two months ahead of schedule, according to an announcement released today from the Joint Tactical Radio System program office. The milestone C decision authorizes the Army to procure an LRIP lot of up to 6,250 handheld Rifleman Radios and up to 100 manpack variants of the JTRS Handheld Manpack Small Form Fit, the announcement states.
