House Appropriators Cut Dollars, Request Air Force Report on CSAR-X

House appropriators plan to cut $100 million out of the Air Force's funding request for its combat search and rescue program, due to significant schedule delays related to ongoing industry protests, according to language drafted for the fiscal year 2008 defense spending bill. Lawmakers also are calling on Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne to provide a comprehensive report on exactly how and why the service selected Boeing's HH-47 Chinook helicopter as the new CSAR-X platform.
