House authorizers address more than $1B in Navy unfunded priorities

House authorizers are backing several items on the Navy's unfunded priority list, including more than $800 million in backlogged submarine and surface ship maintenance, according to the House Armed Services Committee's " chairman's mark " of the fiscal year 2020 defense policy bill. The draft legislation would provide funding for depot maintenance for the submarines Boise (SSN-764), Columbus (SSN-762) and Hartford (SSN-768) as well as various surface vessels. At least $550 million of that money would come from anticipated savings...
