House Lawmakers Establish Permanent Homeland Security Committee

House lawmakers this week approved the creation of a permanent standing committee dedicated to homeland security oversight. Rep. Christopher Cox (R-CA) -- who served the last two years as chairman of a House select committee on homeland security, which has been terminated -- will lead the new panel, according to a Jan. 4 announcement from the lawmaker.
