Japan Becomes First Foreign MV-22 Osprey Customer

Japan is set to become the first foreign customer for the Marine Corps' MV-22 Osprey after signing a $332.5 million contract for five aircraft, the Pentagon announced this week. The contract, announced July 14, marks the first foreign military sale of the tiltrotor aircraft. The State Department approved Japan's planned purchase of 17 MV-22Bs and associated parts, equipment and logistical support for an estimated $3 billion earlier this year, according to a May 5 notice from the Defense Security Cooperation...
