Jones Denies Ordering V-22 Options Study

Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James Jones said this afternoon that he has not ordered a study of backup options should the V-22 Osprey program be canceled. Jones' statement was issued in response to a story in The New York Times today. Quoting unnamed Marine Corps officials, the story said Jones asked for options for what the Marine Corps would do if the Osprey program, which uses tiltrotor technology to takeoff like a helicopter and fly like a plane, were canceled...
