Lawmakers favor acquiring on-orbit capabilities for communication satellites

The House Armed Service strategic forces subcommittee supports the Space Development Agency's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, according to draft legislation released Monday, which will benefit joint operations with assured, resilient, low-latency military data and communications connectivity to space-based capabilities. The subcommittee said besides upgrading Tranche 1, a military satellite constellation and PWSA, the SDA should prioritize on-orbit capabilities that will maximize communication flexibility and connection with a variety of ground terminals, including tactical terminals.
