Lawmakers girding for defense spending fights

Top congressional Democrats are circling their wagons around President Biden's first defense budget request, while Republicans are calling it "wholly inadequate." The total Pentagon request is $715 billion and is part of $753 billion in total national defense spending for fiscal year 2022.
