Lawmakers Seek To Loosen DOD Financial Management Rules

House lawmakers want to help the Pentagon loosen its financial management rules to allow it to hire more qualified personnel. The House approved an amendment to the fiscal year 2003 defense authorization bill on May 9 introduced by Rep. John Spratt (D-SC) that would allow the Pentagon to establish professional certification and credential standards for professional accounting positions within the Defense Department.
