Long Range Cannon to bridge towed artillery capability gap

The Army is testing an air-mobile, extended-range cannon prototype that could be retrofitted onto an existing howitzer to serve as an interim capability for Stryker and infantry brigade combat teams. The effort is “in direct response to operational needs in the Pacific and Europe” and will be used to inform other systems being developed under the long-range precision fires modernization priority, according to the service.
