MDA to purchase additional THAAD interceptors

The Missile Defense Agency is seeking additional interceptors for its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, according to a June 1 request for proposals. According to the notice, THAAD offers combatant commanders "a rapidly-deployable ground-based missile defense system that deepens, extends and complements the Ballistic Missile Defense System."
