NATO Picks Giambastiani For Transformation Post

NATO's Defense Planning Committee has appointed U.S. Joint Forces Command chief Adm. Edmund Giambastiani to serve as supreme allied commander for transformation. The committee picked Giambastiani for the job at the behest of President Bush, the alliance announced today. The appointment will become effective at an undetermined future date, pending approval of proposed changes to NATO's command structure by alliance defense ministers next month.
