The Navy has awarded Litton Avondale Industries a $477.7 million contract to build the fourth San Antonio-class amphibious assault ship, the company announced today. LPD-20 is the fourth of a planned 12-ship program that is designed to replace 36 amphibious ships of various classes currently in service.
