Navy to decommission fire-damaged Bonhomme Richard

The Navy announced Monday it would decommission the fire-damaged amphibious assault ship Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) after determining that repairing the vessel would be too expensive. The ship, which suffered severe damage in a July fire, would cost more than $3 billion to repair and take between five and seven years to fix, the Navy said in a press release.
