Navy Determines Additional Testing Needed On Questionable Virginia-Class Sub Components

The Navy has determined that some pipe fittings provided by a Virginia-class submarine supplier require additional testing and repair, according to a service spokeswoman. The service concluded that fittings provided by this supplier are installed on ships throughout the fleet. However, three submarines -- the Minnesota (SSN-783), the North Dakota (SSN-784) and the John Warner (SSN-785) -- continue to be restricted from operation based on information pertaining specifically to the fittings installed on these ships, Navy spokeswoman Colleen O'Rourke wrote...
