In a new report, congressional auditors have disclosed just how much the Navy has scaled back its Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) program, slashing the estimated cost of the planned acquisition from $15.1 billion to $5.7 billion -- a 62 percent reduction in the size of the winner-take-all prize set to be awarded as soon as next month to either Lockheed Martin, Raytheon or Northrop Grumman.
