Navy May Expand V-22 Missions To Include Refueling, Search And Rescue

The Navy is evaluating the capability of its V-22 tilt-rotor Osprey to expand into other potential mission areas such as aerial refueling and search and rescue, according to a Navy spokeswoman. However, expanding into these mission sets would necessitate the aircraft fly at altitudes higher than 13,000 feet -- operations the V-22 was not originally designed to perform. The aircraft's cabin is not pressurized, according to service officials, which means that as altitude increases, oxygen availability decreases and oxygen masks...
