Navy mulling Barracuda for 'accelerated acquisition'  designation

The Navy is looking to accelerate a mine neutralization system linked to a new mine countermeasures vessel, and will consider using an accelerated acquisition designation to do so, according to the program manager. Barracuda is a "mine neutralization system with the form factor of an A-size sonobuoy" and will eventually be deployed from the Navy's new MCM Unmanned Surface Vessel , according to service budget justification documents.
