Navy requests 14 new ships, $194.1 billion in fiscal year 2019 budget

The Navy is requesting $179.1 billion in the fiscal year 2019 base budget and $15 billion in wartime funding that would, in total, fund the construction of 14 new ships. In FY-19, the service seeks $77.1 billion in modernization money -- $58.5 billion in procurement and $18.6 billion in research and development funding; $63.4 billion in operations and maintenance funding; $50.2 billion in personnel funding; and $3.4 billion in infrastructure money, according to budget documents.
