New NNSA Task Force to Oversee Radiological Threat Reduction Efforts

The Energy Department's National Nuclear Security Administration has created a new organization within its nuclear nonproliferation directorate to oversee all of the agency's radiological threat reduction efforts at home and abroad, the agency announced today. The Nuclear Radiological Threat Reduction Task Force will help NNSA combat the threat of terrorists using radiological dispersal devices, or "dirty bombs," to attack U.S. interests, NNSA chief Linton Brooks said in the notice.
