New WMD Elimination Unit to be Fully Operational Next Year

A new U.S. Strategic Command unit charged with orchestrating efforts to find and neutralize weapons of mass destruction anywhere on the globe will be fully staffed and ready by September 2009, according to a Defense Department official. As envisioned, the 30-person Joint Elimination Coordination Element (JECE) would deploy to combat zones alongside members of the Army's 20th Support Command.
