Northrop Grumman Offers High-Energy Laser to Guard Airports from MANPADS

FARNBOROUGH, ENGLAND -- Northrop Grumman has submitted a formal proposal to the Department of Homeland Security offering its ground-based Skyguard high-energy laser as a means of defending aircraft taking off and landing at U.S. airports from man-portable air defense systems, according to company officials.
