Pentagon Intends To Transfer $360 Million To Train And Equip Syrian Rebels

The Defense Department intends to shift $360 million toward the training and equipping of vetted Syrian rebels to combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, according to a prior approval reprogramming request sent to Congress. The bulk of the money -- $279.5 million -- would come from the Counterterrorism Partnership Fund and be put into operations and maintenance accounts run by the Army, Air Force and U.S. Special Operations Command.
