Pentagon Issues FY-13 Budget Request, Seeks $178.8 Billion For Acquisition

The Pentagon's fiscal year 2013 request for the baseline budget and war spending seeks $178.8 billion for the development and purchase of new weapons and technology, including $109.1 billion for procurement and $69.7 billion for research and development. Most of that funding -- $169.7 billion -- is in the base budget. The remaining $9.1 billion appears in the overseas contingency account.
