Raytheon Awarded Contract To Modify Tactical Tomahawks For Torpedo Launches

The Navy has awarded Raytheon a $27 million contract to work on a project that would give the service the ability to launch Tactical Tomahawk cruise missiles from torpedo tubes, the Pentagon announced today. The contract work is also intended to benefit the British Royal Navy. Raytheon originally designed the Tactical Tomahawk to be fired from a Vertical Launch System that has been incorporated into U.S. surface ships and only a limited number of submarines.
