Raytheon has edged a Boeing-Lockheed Martin team to capture a $451 million contract to develop a next-generation, air-launched surgical strike weapon that can hit moving targets, the Pentagon announced this afternoon. The award comes after a more-than-three-year competition between the two industry teams, which were awarded contracts to develop Small Diameter Bomb II prototypes in 2006.
