Rumsfeld: Fate Of Deactivated Nuclear Warheads Still Undetermined

The Pentagon has not yet figured out exactly what it will do with each of the approximately 3,800 nuclear warheads it plans to deactivate over the next 10 years, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said today. The Bush administration late last year pledged to reduce the number of deployed strategic warheads from about 6,000 today to 3,800 by fiscal year 2007 (and no more than 2,200 by 2012).
